🔐 Privacy Policy — AI Impact Meter

1. Data collection

AI Impact Meter does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data to external servers.

All data processed by the extension remains locally on the user’s device.

The extension processes, locally in the browser, the following information:

• text length and structure of prompts and AI responses,
• interaction metadata (timestamps, counts of messages, images, or videos),
• user configuration settings.

This data is used only to estimate environmental impact and generate local statistics.

2. Data storage

All data is stored exclusively using Chrome’s local storage (chrome.storage.local) on the user’s device.

No data is synced, shared, or transmitted outside the browser.

Users can delete all stored data at any time by removing the extension.

3. Data sharing

AI Impact Meter does not share any data with:

• the developer,
• third parties,
• analytics services,
• advertising networks.

The extension does not make any external network requests.

4. Permissions justification

• Host permissions: required to operate on supported AI websites in order to observe user interactions and generated content.
• Storage: required to save local statistics and user preferences.
• ActiveTab: required to interact only with the active tab and provide in-page UI.
• Downloads: required to export user data locally upon explicit user request.

All permissions are used strictly to provide the stated functionality.

5. Data security

Because all processing occurs locally and no data leaves the device, no user data is exposed to external systems.

6. Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, updates will be reflected on this page and in the Chrome Web Store listing.
